New Book Release

Book Two of “The Beach and Beyond” series has just been released.

Building a new life beside magnificent Teal Lake should have been easy. After all Shona McGuire wasn’t asking for much. A return to the world of the white picket fence and ordinary life she once despised, security for her son, and a man that can return her love.

But is the ruthless, workaholic, Blake Coleman capable of being that man. He has left it all behind to join her in paradise, all behind him apart from his corporate life, and his half-truths. When tragedy tears Blake’s world apart, and a stranger, seeking solitude arrives at the lake, Shona finds it is more than an ocean that separates their very different worlds.

“The Cost of Caviar” book two of the “Beach and Beyond” series comes to a chilling conclusion. This is not a sugar coated romance and contains language that may offend some readers.

The author of this book resides in New Zealand. If you are a reader from the United States, the spelling of some words may differ slightly from what is familiar to you. A glossary at the back of the book provides insight in to the lesser known Maori words.

A Capable and Wide Revenge. Review.

If you have read, as I have, Glen Barrera’s previous book, “The Assassin Who Couldn’t Dance” this one is a must.

Again, the author wraps the reader in a fast moving, action packed story, and sweeps them along with a plot that keeps the pages turning.

“A Capable and Wide Revenge” is a well written, and gripping tale set against a vividly described backdrop. It is full of exciting conflict, complex relationships and loss, all weaved together with a little romance.

The characters are flawed, the events often unpredictable, and the ending was satisfying.

I certainly hope there is a third book by this author. I would certainly recommend this story, the previous one and any that follow.

Latest Review.

The Quilt, Unravelled has received another lovely review and again my day has started well. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to download, read and add a few lines about their experience.

My blog has been neglected but soon there will be news to add about the next book. Yes I, together with my geriatric cat Mouse, have been busy writing.

Have a great weekend where ever you are. And think of us in the Southern Hemisphere experiencing the coldest temperatures since 1908!

The Quilt is a beautifully written book chronicling the lives of Paul Clarke and Joanne Kyle. It was quite something watching as these two very different people, from two very different backgrounds, were slowly brought together. It made me reflect on my own life. Quite often you get lost in the now, losing sight of the steps that brought you there, and for a book to do that is special indeed.

I loved the characters. Everyone is presented so clearly, with unique personalities and voices; I really felt as though I knew them.

And no review of the Quilt would be complete without mentioning the setting. I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand, and reading this book has only strengthened that desire. Rochelle Carlton does a wonderful describing the landscape. Reading about the Clarke’s vineyard made me want to hop on a plane and see it for myself.

This is a special book. Do you yourself a favor and read it. You won’t be disappointed.

Random Lucidity by David Adair

This is a story that held my attention from start to finish.  Each of its characters is believable and there are enough unexpected twists to keep the reader turning the pages.

I particularly enjoyed the author’s ability to draw you in to each relationship.  A romance under pressure, a father and son and their roles as they are inevitably reversed when age takes its toll, a caregiver that is plagued by greed and vice and a writer of notes that is far from what you would expect.

There are several experiences and choices that are not only true to life but also thought provoking.  The end came as a surprize and the plot is a credit to the author.

This is a book that would appeal to a wide cross section of readers – from  romantic suspense fans to those seeking a mystery that is both clever and well written.  I would highly recommend Random Lucidity  and look forward to reading more from this author.

Anyone considering this great book to download?  It is currently only 0.99c.  Great value and you wont be disappointed.

The Quilt is a wide-ranging and moving story of one family, their love, their losses and, most significantly, their resilience. It is a highly emotional read and Ms. Carlton does a masterful job of bringing the two main characters – Paul and Joanne – together throughout the story.

Secondary characters consistently threatened to steal the story as they are written with such believability it must be that the author knows people like this in real life. The depth of the characters, the intertwined relationships, and the stunning New Zealand landscapes described throughout make this a wonderful choice for anyone looking to connect with a new and fresh group of characters.
